Starting Solids

Congratulation on this new stage, and welcome to the messy and fun world of baby food.

Your baby is probably ready for solids between ages four and six months when they are able to sit up with support, have good head and neck control, and show interest in your food while you’re eating.

Doctors recommend starting with any single-ingredient vegetable or fruit puree; avocado, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, or peas are all good choices.

You can add formula or breast milk to these first foods when you’re starting out in order to reach a texture that’s good for your baby.

Pureed meat is a great way to incorporate iron.

BOOKS
Books on Baby Nutrition can be incredibly useful in coming up with easy & healthy ideas for your little one. Many offer simple and easy-to-follow recipes with great tips on prepping, storing, and introducing new foods.
While there are recipes that aren't inherently kosher, the majority of them call for kosher ingredients. You can easily adapt recipes by swapping protein and leaving out cheese in fleishig dishes.

Below are a few well-reviewed & seemingly interesting books,
available on A
mazon you can check out.
